Sometimes when editing a frozen track, it can be tricky to get the editing just right because you can’t really see what you’re editing. What you need to see is the actual waveform generated when the track is frozen, rather than the original audio or MIDI.
The trick here is to display an automation lane, whether or not the track has any automation in it. First, make sure the track’s automation menu is displaying a value other than None.
Once you’ve made a selection, a small plus sign will appear in the lower right hand corner below the menu:
Clicking the plus sign opens a new automation lane (in this example, one that displays volume automation). Within that lane, you’ll see an image of the actual waveform of the frozen audio:
