VOCODER: THE SNARERERIZER, pt. 2

Who knew there could be so much to shaping a little blast of noise?

What’s the story with that X-Y controller?

Picture 10

This guy is a character control for the noise. For most sounds, it works just great in the upper right hand corner, but you can move it around to make the sound more lo-fi. As you drag it downwards, the “density” of the noise decreases and it becomes a much messier affair. Try cranking up the Release control with lower density noise to add a cool gritty tail to a sound.

As you move the X-Y dot to the left, the sample rate of the noise decreases, creating aliasing artifacts. This can make the sound a bit dark and dull, but a short Release and a bit of extra volume can compensate for this and make for a nice punchy sound.
